Experience fine art and culture in Muskoka, September 28 – 30, 2018

Culture Days, Ontario is coming to Muskoka September 28 – 30, 2018, and there will be tons of fabulous artisan displays, workshops, yoga classes, music, and museum tours for you to get cultured up.

A 3 day and 2 night Culture Trek travel itinerary has been created for Muskoka during Culture Days weekend, and it is definitely worth doing! To make the trek even better, the fall colours are just starting to appear. Although green is still the predominate colour, it is still a great time for an early fall colour drive.

100+ activities across Muskoka

To say there is a lot going on this weekend would be an understatement. Culture Days has been able to collect 100+ activities across Muskoka for you to discover!

Head to Huntsville to take a self guided tour of the Group of Seven Outdoor Gallery and marvel at the 44 outdoor murals. While strolling the streets of Huntsville, stop by the town hall to take a selfie with Tom Thomson’s bronze statue to post to your social accounts.

Travel back to yesteryear at the Muskoka Lake Museum with their Put Yourself in the Picture display, designed to explore the local heritage through old postcards and modern photography. This charming museum by the locks in Port Carling is always happy to welcome you.

Muskoka Chatauqua will be hosting an art exhibition at the Bethune House in Gravenhurst from 10am – 3pm on September 29. Stop by to see the exceptional work of local artists and celebrate the vibrant art and culture community in Muskoka. The location of the exhibition is a major part of Muskoka’s history in and of itself, as the birthplace of internationally prominent medical pioneer Dr. Norman Bethune. Take a tour of his childhood home and experience a rich piece of heritage in Gravenhurst that has been named a National Historic Site of CanadaTo learn more about the art exhibition, visit their website

If you are looking to get crafty, learn how to weave a basket with Leslie Songer Terry at Arts at the Albion. Watching her technique is sure to inspire you to give it a try yourself! Watch Brad Haines stained glass demonstration anytime from 9am – 5pm on September 29 at the same location.

Huntsville recognized by Culture Days Canada

Downtown - Things to do in Huntsville

Muskoka is known for its burgeoning art and culture scene, and Huntsville is definitely an arts and culture hub. So much so that the town of Huntsville has been recognized as second in the country by Culture Days Canada for participating communities with a population under 50,000, and 10th overall for their contribution to the lively weekend that comes around every September. Ontario Culture Days also ranked the town as 5th in the province.

Congratulations to all the organizers, artisans and the town. WOW!
