Muskoka Lakes Farm & Winery vs the CN Tower

Both have been named finalists for the 2018 Ontario Culinary Tourism Awards

September 28, 2018 – MUSKOKA ON

The Culinary Tourism Alliance has announced the finalists for the 2018 Ontario Culinary Tourism Awards, and lo and behold our very own Muskoka Lakes Farm and Winery made it on the short list. The cranberry farm and winery will be competing in the experience category, and will be going toe to toe with none other than the CN Tower (have you heard of it?). Wow, that is some pretty amazing company to keep!

UPDATE OCTOBER 24, 2018: MUSKOKA LAKES FARM & WINERY HAS WON THIS ONTARIO CULINARY TOURISM AWARD. WAY TO GO JOHNSTON FAMILY!

The Bog to Bottle Discovery Tour at Ontario’s oldest cranberry farm is recognized as a Canadian Signature Experience, Ontario Signature Experience, and of course a Muskoka Signature Experience. This latest nomination is another well-deserved accolade they can hang on the mantle.

The farm is best known for their Bog to Bottle Discovery Tour, offered 363 days a year. Drop in or reserve ahead to take the tour offered 3 times daily at 11am, 1pm and 3pm. Just recently, they have introduced the Cranberry Plunge to HUGE fanfare. The photo in the berries has become one of most sought after fall colour photos (and most sought after Facebook profile photos).

The winners of the 2018 Ontario Culinary Tourism Awards will be announced on October 24, 2018. Good luck to our cranberry friends in Bala, we’re cheering for you!

Cranberry plunge

Part of the cranberry experience is strapping on those hip waders and plunging into bog for that instaworthy photo. There have even been a number of proposals in the berries (she said yes!)!

The Cranberry Plunge will be available on the weekends of September 29 – 30, October 6 – 8, October 12 – 14 and October 20 – 21. It will also be available on select days midweek.

New bevies

Cranberries are one of the few fruits native to North America, and they are the perfect base for a delicious (and refreshing) beverage. Muskoka Lakes Farm & Winery has it figured out with a full line-up of fruit-forward wines (including their super popular Cranberry Blueberry Wine), and they just recently launched their Cliff Jump Cranberry Cider and Cranberry Splash Wine Spritzer. The wines are always a crowd pleaser, and the two new additions most definitely will be as well.

The ALL NEW Cranberry Route

You might have gathered this already, but we love our cranberries! So much so, we created a culinary trail centred around our beloved berry, with 25 Cranberry Route stops for you to discover. Tour the cranberry marsh (and get that iconic photo in the berries), sip cranberry craft beer and cider, indulge in cranberry baked goodies and treats, be amazed by cranberry inspired cuisine, and bring home the tastes (and smells) of the harvest!
