Huckleberry Rock Lookout just outside of Port Carling is known for its panoramic views of Lake Muskoka, and winter only enhances the magic. The lookout trail takes you to one of the highest points in the area, where you can gaze out over forests, frozen lakes, and rolling snow-covered hills.
Though it’s a bit of a climb, the reward is a sweeping view of Muskoka blanketed in snow. Bring your snowshoes to make the climb that much easier! Huckleberry Rock Lookout is particularly beautiful at sunset – a must-see for nature lovers and photographers alike.
2. Ragged Falls – A Winter Wonderland on Oxtongue River
Ragged Falls is a must-visit destination near Algonquin Park, and it’s even more enchanting in winter. As the Oxtongue River slows down, the falls partially freeze, forming dramatic ice structures. Snowshoe or hike the short trail to the falls for a view that captures Muskoka’s wild, rugged beauty at its best.

3. Hardy Lake Provincial Park – Lakeside Trails
Hardy Lake Provincial Park is a favourite among locals and visitors alike, and its trails are stunning year-round. In winter, the park’s lake and rocky outcrops turn into a winter wonderland. The rugged trail loops around Hardy Lake, offering several lookouts. We recommend bringing snowshoes or ice cleats to make the winter adventure that much easier.

4. Arrowhead Provincial Park Ice Trail and Waterfalls
Arrowhead Provincial Park is a winter haven for outdoor enthusiasts, with trails ranging from serene forest paths to its famous 1.3km Ice Skating Trail. This unique skating trail winds through a snow-covered forest, creating a dreamy experience for skaters of all ages. Visit during one of the Fire & Ice nights, where the trail is illuminated with torches, adding a magical glow.
After skating, don your snowshoes or cross-country skis and hit Arrowhead’s network of trails, including a 2.6KM hike to the park’s waterfall at Stubb’s Falls.
5. Lions Lookout Trail – A Scenic Overlook of Huntsville
Lions Lookout Trail is in Huntsville, ON and offers incredible winter views. From the top, you can see across Fairy Lake and the Town of Huntsville. This is one of the best lookouts in Muskoka! The trail is short (less than 1km) but steep, so bring your winter boots or snowshoes for traction on snowy days. The road to the top is closed in the winter!
6. Bracebridge Resource Management Centre – Peaceful Riverside Trails
The Bracebridge Resource Management Centre is a hidden gem, offering scenic trails along the Muskoka River. In winter, the trails are groomed for both cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and fat biking making it a perfect destination for exploring Muskoka’s winter landscapes.
The network of trails ranges in difficulty, so there’s something for everyone – from beginners to more experienced skiers and hikers. For a quiet, serene winter experience, pack a thermos and make your way along these beautiful riverside trails.
7. Wilson’s Falls Trail – Frozen Falls and Snowy Riverbanks
Located near Bracebridge, Wilson’s Falls is a scenic winter hiking destination. This trail follows the Muskoka River and leads to the falls, where you’ll find the river frozen into dazzling, icy formations.
Wilson’s Falls is a 4km loop or just take a walk to the waterfall!
8. Muskoka Lakes Farm & Winery – Cranberry Bog Trails
Step into more than 10km of stunning trails at Muskoka Lakes Farm & Winery. After your snowshoeing adventure, cozy up with hot mulled wine and a gourmet snack to warm up. They groom the trails to ensure the best conditions. For safety reasons, walking is not allowed as it could result in sinking into the snow or slipping. Trail loops from 1km to 7.5km with different difficulties. Snowshoe trail pass: Monday – Friday $12/adults, kids under 12 $9. Saturday/Sunday $15/adults, kids under 12 $12
9. High Falls, Potts Falls & Little High Falls
Explore High Falls, Potts Falls and Little High Falls in Bracebridge. These stunning waterfalls, take on a whole new charm in the winter months. The hike to High Falls is a short, easy walk that offers incredible views of the frozen falls. Within walking and hiking distance of High Falls, you will find two more beautiful waterfalls for your picture taking pleasure, the smaller Little High Falls and Pott Falls. Follow the hiking trail signs to find them both. It’s a perfect winter adventure for families or anyone looking to enjoy the outdoors at a leisurely pace.
