About
Located at the convergence of Lake Muskoka and the Moon River, downtown Bala is a must-visit small town in Muskoka. Bala is known for its diverse range of events, including the award-winning Bala Cranberry Festival, which takes place the weekend after Thanksgiving, and Bala’s Trek to Bethlehem, which occurs on the first Saturday in December.
Visitors can explore trendy boutiques like Jack & Stella, socialize at The Pearl Muskoka or one of the many restaurants, and enjoy the SWS water ski show at Windsor Park on Tuesdays during July and August. For a lively evening, head to The Kee to Bala. You can also visit the Bala’s Museum, which holds memories of Lucy Maud Montgomery, and take in the beautiful sights and sounds of the Bala Falls.
Don’t miss the Muskoka Lakes Farm & Winery just outside of town. Here, you can take a wine-tasting tour, hike the trails, savor wine and cheese on the patio, enjoy cranberry high tea, and listen to live music on Sundays during the summer. The Cranberry Harvest takes place from the last Saturday in September to October 31. In the winter, you can go snowshoeing and ice skating around the cranberry bog.
Visit Bala next time you are in Muskoka and you won’t be disappointed
